No, you do not need a Microsoft Advertising account to use the Learning Lab, but you do need a Microsoft account. If you do not have a Microsoft account, go to the Microsoft account sign up page and follow the steps to create your account. If you need help setting up or managing your Microsoft account, go to account help.
If you are a Microsoft employee, select the option "Microsoft employee sign-in" under the "Sign-in" link in the top right corner of the Learning Lab site. If you are not a Microsoft employee, please contact your account executive or via our Microsoft Advertising support page.
If you are a Microsoft employee, select the option "Microsoft employee sign-in" under the "Sign-in" link in the top right corner of the Learning Lab site before beginning a course. If a Microsoft employee tries to access a course prior to logging in to the Learning Lab, they will receive messages requesting admin approval.
Since relaunching the Learning Lab in April of 2022, we have streamlined our user profiles for simplicity and ease of use. The email we use for communication, account creation, and user information is your log-in email.
Because we consolidated profiles to leverage only log-in emails, if you changed your profile (now known as dashboard) email prior to April, 2022, it will not match. We are working to automate this field to match your log-in. Note that since this is a temporary input field issue, you will still be able to receive communications, log-in to your account, and use your account.
Your Learning Lab email is tied to your Microsoft.com account. If you need to make a change to your log-in email, you will need to do so directly through Microsoft.com.
Each individual employee should have their own unique login for the Microsoft Advertising Learning Lab. This allows you to keep your own personal history on your course activity. We suggest linking any new Microsoft accounts to your Microsoft Advertising platform account.

Certifications & Badges

Expand all
Visit the Certifications page to learn about the program and how to participate.
We have increased the number of certifications to better reflect the way you work. We have three new certifications available: Search, Native & Display, and Shopping. You do not need to complete all three certifications unless you wish to obtain your Microsoft Advertising Certified Professional (MACP) status. Visit the Certifications page to learn more.
All of our exams have preparation courses that allow you to take a practice exam to test your knowledge. If you answer a question incorrectly in the practice exam, you are provided with the course or courses to refer take to study that topic. We have also provided checklists in the preparation course to help you keep track of which course or courses to focus on.
Although we recommend reviewing the learning path material and certification preparation course before taking the exam, it is not mandatory.
If you do not pass the exam, you may retake the exam at any time and as many times as needed. We recommend waiting one day between attempts to give yourself time to study and review the certification preparation course or courses.
Each certification status is valid for one year. Prior to expiration, you will receive notification to retake the exam.
To maintain your Microsoft Advertising certification and badge, you need to take a recertification course. Your certification is then renewed for one year. If you’ve earned and want to keep your Microsoft Advertising Certified Professional (MACP) status, you will need to pass all three recertification courses.
You can access the recertification course on each Learning Path. The recertification exam will be accessible for learners who have already earned their Microsoft Advertising certification.
You’ll receive two recertification email reminders prior to your one-year certification expiration date. The first reminder will go out one month before expiration; the second reminder will be sent out one week prior to expiration. The email will have instructions on how you can recertify. There will also be a banner in the “Achievements” section on your Learning Lab Dashboard indicating that you need to recertify.
Your certification is valid for one year. If you don’t recertify during that one-year period, you’ll need to retake the 50-question certification exam.
When you recertify, you’ll maintain access to your Credly badge. If you don’t recertify within one year of earning your Microsoft Advertising certification and badge, you’ll lose access to this badge until you earn your certification again.
The Microsoft Advertising Certified Professional (MACP) status is designed to prove your expertise across all aspects of the digital advertising ecosystem including Search, Native & Display, and Shopping certifications. If you are not interested in earning a certification in one or two of these areas, you can still earn the other certifications.
Passing a certification exam for Search, Native & Display, and/or Shopping demonstrates your understanding of the advertising ecosystem, including the Microsoft Advertising platform, solutions, and best practices in that area. If you pass all three certification exams, you will be granted the Microsoft Advertising Certified Professional (MACP) status. There are Credly digital badges associated with each of the Microsoft Advertising certifications as well as those for completing the Marketing with Purpose Learning Path, Digital Advertising Fundamentals Learning Path, and Programmatic Advertising Learning Path.
You can share your awarded badge on various social media platforms such as LinkedIn. Visit the Credly Acclaim Help Center for more information on how and where you may do so.
After you have earned a badge, you will receive a notification email from Credly’s Acclaim platform. If this is your first time claiming a Microsoft Advertising badge, follow the steps below:
  1. Click the link in that email.
  2. Create an account on Credly’s Acclaim platform.
  3. Confirm your account by clicking the link in a confirmation email that is generated after you set up your account.
Claiming future badges is as easy as clicking the link in the notification email and logging into our Credly Acclaim account.
We will occasionally update the look and feel of our badges. New designs have the same functionality as before, and we encourage you to share your skills by sharing your badge with your peers in social channels.
If you believe you are eligible for a badge but have not received it, contact our support center. If you have questions about the Acclaim platform or how to claim your badge, contact Credly support.
